Maine Cardiology Associates is a private practice made up of 22 physicians in four locations treating a patient population of >60,000. Our Research Department is based in a state of the art facility in South Portland, Maine. We have close working relationships with Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital as well as other hospitals around the state and in New Hampshire. Our specialty is diseases of the heart and circulatory system.

With a strong emphasis on quality, our research department is committed to performing scientifically valid and ethically appropriate research in the area of cardiovascular medicine. We strongly believe in the importance of meeting enrollment goals as well as the importance of rapid study start-up.

    Our physicians have extensive research experience in the private, pharmaceutical / device sector as well is in academic and public health sectors. Our physicians have distinct areas of research interest and expertise which enables us to link studies of a specific therapeutic area with the most appropriate investigator.

    Additional research staff includes a full time, certified clinical research coordinator with 10+ years of experience as well as an additional, full-time clinical research coordinator with certification pending. Ancillary staff is involved in research as needed and as directed by the research director and study coordinator. This staff includes cardiovascular and vascular technologists, electrophysiology nurses, laboratory technicians, and medical assistants.

    Maine Cardiology Associates is able to work with Central IRB's and is committed to rapid study start-up (we also work with a local IRB at Maine Medical Center, if necessary).
